Need Help Navigating Your Medicare Journey

Medicare Basics

Medicare is a federal health insurance program, primarily for people 65 and  older, though some younger people with disabilities or conditions like ALS are also eligible. It's  divided into parts covering different services:

  • Part A (Hospital  Insurance),
  • Part B (Medical Insurance),
  • Part C (Medicare Advantage), and
  • Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage).

You can receive coverage through Original Medicare (Parts A and B) or a private Medicare Advantage plan

Frequently Asked Questions

Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people age 65 and older, and for some younger people with certain disabilities. Most people qualify based on work history or through their spouse.

Original Medicare (Parts A & B) covers hospital and medical services but doesn’t include most prescriptions, dental, or vision.

Medicare Advantage (Part C) is offered by private companies. These plans bundle hospital, medical, and often prescription coverage — sometimes with extras like dental and vision.

Medicare does not cover most dental care, eye exams, hearing aids, or long-term care in nursing homes. Many people choose supplemental coverage to help with these gaps.

It depends on the size of your employer and your current coverage. Some people delay Part B without penalty, while others may face fees if they wait. I can help review your situation so you make the best choice.

Most people don’t pay a premium for Part A. Part B has a standard monthly premium (set each year by Medicare). If you choose Part D or Medicare Advantage, costs vary by plan.

Medigap helps pay out-of-pocket costs not covered by Original Medicare.

Medicare Advantage replaces Original Medicare with a bundled plan that may include prescription drugs and extra benefits.
The best option depends on your health needs, budget, and lifestyle.

Yes. Every year, the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15–December 7) allows you to switch, drop, or join a plan. There are also special enrollment periods if your situation changes (like moving or losing other coverage).

Prescription drug coverage is not included in Original Medicare. You’ll need to add a Part D plan or choose a Medicare Advantage plan that includes drug coverage. Each plan has its own drug list, so it’s important to check that your medications are covered.
